Flying Colors (with Neal Morse and Mike Portnoy) to be released on March 27th

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 11, 2012

MASCOT LABEL GROUP ANNOUNCES MARCH 27 RELEASE DATE
FOR DEBUT FROM FLYING COLORS

Quintet Features Mike Portnoy, Dave LaRue, Neal Morse, Casey McPherson and Steve Morse

New York --- Mascot Label Group has announced a March 27 release date for the debut from Flying Colors (available the day prior overseas) on their Music Theories Label. The formation of the ensemble began with a simple idea: virtuoso musicians and a pop singer joining together to make new-fashioned music the old fashioned way. Refreshing, classic, old and new, the recordings are saturated with the many styles, tones and hues of the players who in becoming a band have delivered a unique fusion of vintage craftsmanship and contemporary music. Flying Colors is Mike Portnoy (drums, vocals), Dave LaRue (bass), Neal Morse (keyboards, vocals), Casey McPherson (lead vocals), and Steve Morse (guitar). Portnoy shares, "This album has bits and pieces of what you'd expect from each of us. However, the sum of all its parts led to brand new, unchartered territory for all involved."

In 2008, executive producer Bill Evans brought the idea to the world renowned musicians and producer Peter Collins. Intrigued by the idea, and the prospect of working together, the four signed on to form a band and record a first album. Steve Morse and Dave LaRue have developed a magical music chemistry over the years, that began early in their careers as partners in Dixie Dregs. Morse subsequently became a member of Deep Purple in 1995, while LaRue’s ongoing musical adventures include Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess, Steve Vai, and the aforementioned Portnoy. Multi-instrumentalist, composer and singer Neal Morse is one of the leading figures in progressive rock, who's significant notoriety follows his co-founding of the seminal band, Spock’s Beard in 1995, recordings as a solo artist, and contributions to the super-group Transatlantic. Mike Portnoy is one of the most popular and respected drummers in both metal and rock, and an accomplished writer and producer. He is the recipient of numerous industry accolades, including 26 Modern Drummer awards, Revolver Magazine’s Golden God award for "Best Drummer" and Drum Magazine's "Drummer of the Year". He rose to prominence as the leader, drummer, producer, and co-writer for metal/prog juggernaut Dream Theater, before moving on in 2010. That same year, he worked on Avenged Sevenfold’s #1 album Nightmare and their subsequent tour. And, it was Portnoy who recommended Alpha Rev's emotive singer Casey McPherson as a contender to join Flying Colors.

McPherson, who's 2010 Hollywood/Disney album New Morning debuted in the Top-5 on two Billboard charts, enjoyed major success at radio with multiple hits. The track "New Morning” spent 17 weeks in the Top-10 on Triple A Radio, and enjoyed a run on Vh1’s Top-20 Countdown for months. Steve Morse offers, "Casey was a glorious find, because he could make anything sound fantastic, and is a multitalented like the others."

Flying Colors convened for just nine days in early 2011, and composed and recorded this album during a short and intense session. Dave LaRue recalls, "It was quite an experience - the band moved at a fast pace, ideas flying around the room at all times. Sections of tunes were arranged, then re-arranged, ideas were tried every which way until we made them work, or, in some cases, discarded them altogether. Just keeping track of everything was a challenge!" McPherson adds, "This record is filled with trial and triumph. Raw and delicate songs alike amidst the swirling and daring orchestration of Steve, Neal, Mike and Dave. It's been such an inspiring challenge melding folk, prog, pop, and metal all into one big recording."
Touring plans for Flying Colors will be announced in the coming months.

Pete's new band Edison's Children - Pete Trewavas and Eric Blackwood

2nd November 2011
"In The Last Waking Moments". A Rock album with psychedelic and progressive overtones. Conceived some four years ago this project was able to take place using travel time and locations around Pete's work with Marillion and Transatlantic. In fact it was at the end of the Whirlwind tour that the first recording session took place in Sugar Loaf NY NY. Using the band Phish's old barn studio, while their producer Brad lent a hand and some well needed equipment. Finally after another two recording session's. 2 weeks in Montreal early last years and 3 weeks in Ocean Pines where the the rather I'll conceived Irean was rushed off the desk and on to the net. Eric and Pete's long awaited debut album is being finished off at Marillion's studio The Racket Club and the end is in sight. In The Last Waking Moments. Is the tittle of the first album, the first version of which will be a download. Hopeful release date is 11/11/11. All details are on the Edison's Children FaceBook and website.

Pete's new project Acoustic Industry

2nd November 2011
"Acoustic Industry is a project put together by myself and good friend Robin Boult. It started as a vehicle for us to play live together again as we haven't done this since we were in teenage bands together. We were given the chance to play at one of Marillions conventions 3 years ago and while coming up with material for the show, we recorded the tracks. This then became a five track EP CD. I like to think of it as a work in progress as we plan to record a whole album and even the songs recorded are being developed each time we play live. This is an acoustic album written primarily for two guitars but of course in the studio we put a few more bits and pieces on. Even my Dad's old piano which resides in my study these days and if I'm honest needs tuning. The EP is on sale through Racket Records and downloads should soon be available on iTunes and other such stores. All information is on our website."

TRANSATLANTIC: "Whirld Tour 2010" DVD/CD

5th October 2010
Seven years after the announcement of their creative break, the original members of prog rock supergroup TRANSATLANTIC - Roine Stolt (THE FLOWER KINGS), Pete Trewavas (MARILLION), Neal Morse (ex-SPOCK'S BEARD) and Mike Portnoy (ex-DREAM THEATER) - got together again and recorded a new studio album titled "The Whirlwind", which went on to be TRANSATLANTIC's best-selling album, entering mainstream charts in the U.S., Germany and Netherlands. Their two seminal albums, tours and DVDs redefined prog's artistic and commercial possibilities with a combination of modern and traditional prog, classic pop sensibilities, and mind-blowing musicianship.

The "An Evening With Transatlantic Whirld Tour 2010" was the group's largest tour, covering both sides of the Atlantic across 11 countries. With the addition of PAIN OF SALVATION's Daniel Gildenlöw on guitar and keyboards, it was also their most musically powerful. On May 21, 2010, at Shepherd's Bush Empire in London, the cameras were rolling.

The upcoming release entitled "Whirld Tour 2010: Live At Shepherd's Bush London" will be available as a 2-DVD PAL-version set, a 3-CD audio version and a 2-DVD and 3-CD deluxe edition. The concert featured the entire "Whirlwind" album performed exactly as on the studio recording. But that's just the beginning. For the next two and half hours, TRANSATLANTIC performed nearly every song they've ever recorded, along with some surprises. The audio recorded at the show was later mixed by the band's own Roine Stolt, ensuring a genuine presentation of the music from that night. The show doesn't end, though, with the fading echoes of the final note. Backstage, in and around cities throughout Europe, the cameras accompanied Mike, Neal, Roine and Pete on their journey. Uncensored experiences and candid moments reveal the good, the bad, and the unexpected of life on the road. Also included is the band's encore from the final night of their tour, a headlining spot at the U.K.'s High Voltage festival. For the last song at High Voltage, they performed the GENESIS classic "Return of the Giant Hogweed", joined onstage by original GENESIS guitarist Steve Hackett.

Track listing for the 2-DVD and 3-CD Deluxe Edition:

DVD 1 (147 minutes)
  1. The Whirlwind
  2. All of the Above
  3. We All Need Some Light
  4. Duel With the Devil
DVD 2 (190 minutes)
  1. Bridge Across Forever
  2. Stranger in Your Soul
  3. Documentary
  4. Band Interview
  5. Return of the Giant Hogweed (with Steve Hacket)
Audio CD 1
  1. The Whirlwind (79:52)

Update from Neal Morse on MySpace

19th April 2010
"Hello everyone!

Last night in Downey was a VERY GOOD first gig. As you have probably heard by now we played the entire WHIRLWIND album as well as ALL OF THE ABOVE, DUEL, STRANGER, WE ALL NEED SOME LIGHT AND BRIDGE. What a challenge! After programming and practicing for well over a month on my own, and then a week of practicing with the guys here in LA, it was very satisfying to actually do the gig. I didn't make any serious mistakes and my voice held up all the way through so I had a great night. Things are still getting tighter but it was a good first run for sure. I got really blessed during "Rose Colored Glasses" and Roine's solo in DUEL was awesome! The audience was killer and really into it and it was great meeting all the people afterward.

OK, on to SF!

Blessings,

Neal"

Transatlantic Tour in Spring 2010?

12th November 2009
This was posted by Mike Portnoy on his website today:
"As most of you know, it's looking VERY likely that Transatlantic will hit the road with some shows in support of the newly released reunion album "The Whirlwind"....it looks like we found a nice little window in mine, Pete's, Neal's and Roine's schedules to make this happen in the Spring.
So we are currently looking into doing some select shows in major cities on both sides of the Atlantic during this period (it will be our first truly "transatlantic" tour - as we only did the US for SMPTe in 2000 and only did Europe/UK for Bridge Across Forever in 2001)
Details of these shows should start to firm up soon, so stay tuned..."

TRANSATLANTIC FLIES AGAIN!!!

PROGRESSIVE ROCK SUPERGROUP
REUNITES FOR NEW STUDIO ALBUM.
POSSIBLE LATE 2009 RELEASE PLANNED.

TRANSATLANTIC, the progressive rock "supergroup" comprised of Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Pete Trewavas (Marillion), Roine Stolt (The Flower Kings) and Neal Morse (ex-Spock's Beard), have reunited after a 7 year hiatus to begin work on a brand new studio album.

The band began work on the album in early April in Nashville and are expected to have it released by year's end if all goes as planned.
